Airbus Beluga XL enters service at long last One of the aviation world's most hotly anticipated planes, the Airbus Beluga XL, has entered full-time service, having made its first operational flight on January 9, 2020. At a time when jumbo passenger airliners such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747 are on their way out, the Beluga XL -- the first of six -- will be one of the biggest beasts in the skies. You won't be able to travel in it, but the Beluga will play a crucial part of the construction of many of the commercial passenger planes we'll all be flying on over the decades to come. The super-transporter cargo plane is designed by Airbus to fly its aircraft components between production sites in Europe and its final assembly lines in Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; and Tianjin, China. edition.cnn.com/travel/article/airbus-beluga-xl-enters-service/index.html

I wonder who thunk up the idea to paint it up as a whale instead of something else? Looks more like a Bottle Nose Dolphin to me.

Looks kind of silly. I mean, the macho pilots who fly these kinds of things are probably thinking "oh brother"! Lol

Lol Given what they get paid, if I were on their money I'd fly around in a winged dildo all day. I don't care how many times they go up diddley up up, they're still gits. - Edmund Blackadder

I don't think pilots are paid all that well for their level of training and responsibility.

I don't think pilots are paid all that well for their level of training and responsibility. While the median salary for commercial pilots was about $78,000 as of 2017, the lowest 10 percent were earning less than $43,000, while the top 10 percent were earning more than $152,000. www.thebalancecareers.com/airline-pilot-salaries-4126309
