Now that's funny. You edited to add the comment that questions my comprehension, when in fact it appears to be you that lacks the comprehension. That's funny. WTF are you talkin' about? Reply #5 by Porky, in this thread, on this page reports that Joe Paterno had indeed been fired. That is the comprehension I edited you lacked & obviously still do. Yep! I know that is what you think I don't understand. Or should I say comprehend? However what you're failing to know, understand, or maybe comprehend is that the coach I complain about "not being fired" is no longer Paterno, but the witness to the child being sodomized.

As far as the Mike McQueary deal goes, I'm with you. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever for that guy to be anywhere near Penn State much less still coaching. He's an enabler as far as I'm concerned.

Seeing something that confusing at a program that generates money in the billions of dollars requires some advice. Even George Bailey went to ask his dad after he saw Mr. Gower put poison in those capsules. I think justice is being dealt. Those who committed a crime are being held and the president and Paterno are fired as they should be.

IMO....FIRING is not enough...there are some folks who aided and abetted and covered up that should be looking at some serious prison time over this....

I'm not saying I disagree with you and the fact Paterno has hired a criminal defense attorney says you may be right. However for the life of me I can't think of a "law" that they would be held accountable. Maybe that's why I'm not an attorney.

I can see where he might have been intimidated but he saw a crime being committed and instead of helping that poor child, went and told the coach who went and told someone. I will bet you can find a multitude of quotes from all involved talking about how they are in this for the kids. Apparently that only means the kids who can help them win. I have a little sympathy but they did not follow up, allowing this to go on for years and no telling how many more victims.

The DA had the abuse case in 2002 and he did nothing with it. That is pretty grim when people in power look the other way. The guy admits that he was "Horsing around" the shower with 10 year old boys. He needs to be locked up for a very long time.

can someone help me out with some time lines?
I read an article the other day (can't find it now) that said that Sandusky left Penn State in either 98 or 99, but the observation of molestation occurred in 2002. I wondered at the reading if someone had made a mistake in dates or what was he doing in the locker room in '02.
Also, are there small children using the Penn State facilities? I thought P.S. was a university...WHY would small children be in the shower room there for a grown man to be cavorting with?

From what I have gathered, the young boys are part of the charitable organization that Sandusky ran.

The grad assistant who caught Sandusky recently stated that he made them stop. So it's not like he did nothing. My guess is that had he caught someone he didn't know doing this he would have pummeled him and then called the cops. But when it is someone so revered all of your life it can be confusing. As for culpability, the trustees and even the gov are hypocrites on this one. If they fire Paterno they should fire the entire staff and forfeit the rest of the season and begin a search for a new staff now so they will be prepared in time to recruit. But these people all know that there is too much money at stake this season to put morals ahead of team success. They stand a good chance to play in the Big 10 championship game and the Rose Bowl and that means too much money for U-Mart to allow morals to get in the way.

That may be what he's saying now, but it isn't what he told the Grand Jury. In that testimony, he said he "left immediately", went to the phone and called his dad. Dad said to come to his house, which he did. He said nothing about confronting or stopping the rape.

Maybe he wasn't asked. Today he says he contacted the police and apparently the record backs that up. The greater point is that this wasn't someone random he caught. It's not too dissimilar to abused women who don't immediately contact authorities about abusive husbands.
