Heard my phone ringing behind me in the kitchen the other day. Turned around, phone's not there. It rang behind me again. Turned around, phone's not there. It took me a few rings, and turns, to realize it was in my back pocket. I'm nearly deaf in my left ear, so when my phone rings, and it's some distance away, I sometimes have trouble locating it, just from the sound. Never had that problem when I had stereophonic hearing! Peace, OHD Likewise, OHD. Left ear is down 70 or better across the spectrum, right ear is down 50-70 right thru the speech range. The right ear has a lovely spike up to almost 0 around 4 kc. That is nice. It keeps the offhand noise from interfering with hearing the birds chirp..ahahah. First IF I hear my fone at all then, like you, the location of the sound is a real wild guess.... Hahahaha. I set my cell to a ring tone that sounds like a Car Alarm. Lots of high Freq content. Wife just hates it.

I need to do that and either go for surgery, if it can be done, or get a hearing aid. I miss good quality stereo music. I love the sound separation. Peace, OHD

Peace, OHD I have had hearing aids (the best money could buy at the time)...don't use them now (even though I do need them)...the quality of sound suffered tremendously...everything had the same tone and they were so sensitive that someone could crumple a piece of paper 50 feet away and it was a very annoying and hurtful sound....finally, one night at a fraternal meeting, there were about 6 groups of ladies in a 30x50 room all talking at the same time....I had to remove them...and have not used them since. Recently had my hearing checked and have considerable loss plus tinitus 24/7 but the 4 grand for a good set is just a bit more than the pocket can handle right now.

You lucky dude you. J/K O&W I need a hearing aide for at least one ear....have thought about getting one...tired of having to turn the TV up ridiculously high. Some frequencies I cannot hear at all....wrist watch alarms for example...forget it.

HUH?? You said stogies and beer?? I could go for those! LMAO! You need glasses too ITW. I've already switched from beer to bourbon and coke. Had to give up the stogies when I was unable to get to my mail box and back without getting winded....it's up hill but only about 150 feet. Now it's Spiriva and albuterol.

Just messing with you. My hearing is better than it should be at this point in my life. The eyesight in my one functional eye is passable enough to qualify for a drivers license.
SK is going to leap on that one I bet.
Surprises the crap out of my family the things I see or notice that they do not without looking for them.

I have the problem of a sort of "tunnel vision"....peripheral is good...but what is directly in front down low or up high is frequently missed because I have a tendency to be looking at my horizon, rather than what is right in front of my feet or just over my head.
