Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms "worsened", Downing Street has said.
Mr Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise "where necessary", a spokesman added.
The prime minister, 55, was admitted to St Thomas' Hospital in London with "persistent symptoms" on Sunday.
The spokesman said he was moved on the advice of his medical team and is receiving "excellent care".
A statement read: "Since Sunday evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas' Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital."
It continued: "The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication."
I don't know, not that we know of , I am really scared for him , this is not looking good at all now
Oh dear, sorry to hear this.
Last picture I saw of him he didn't look good at all, he looked like he hadn't slept in a week...He is trying to help and save the lives of the brits and these idiots are shown hanging out in parks and acting like nothing is wrong...
My hopes are with him and a speedy recovery the world needs more leaders like him...
Keep fighting Boris !!, here he was last week standing at his door joining in the clapping for our NHS while he was ill , he hasn't stopped working since this thing broke , we all have to do our bit to help in this fight, don't go to parks ! , stay home , I was hearing on the news while in ICU all they can do is provide a ventilator to help with get oxygen into the body , the rest is down to the individual as of course there is no treatment that can be given ,
said they had contacted all his Doctors, which means they are looking to see if there are any underlying health problems. Article said: Dr. James Gill, a family doctor and lecturer at Warwick Medical School, said Johnson's condition “must underscore for everyone, across the world, how indiscriminate this virus is, ignoring, class, character, wealth and position."
“For some people, the coronavirus outbreak just became real," he said.https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2020-04-06/british-prime-minister-boris-johnson-moved-to-intensive-care
Here's hoping he gets better.
