The HEISMAN all but guarantees him a very lucrative professional football career....it is the TOP honor that can be awarded to a college player...typically, there are numerous players nominated and then 5 or 6 get invited to the big shendig at which it is presented...basically, it says the recipient is the best of the best for that particular year.

I disagree. It is NOT always the best of the best. Politics does play into it somewhat. Darren McFadden was not given the award as a sophomore because no lower classman had ever won it. Care to tell me who won it and their class the next 3 or 4 years?
