Although I seldom read fiction, I have read every book this woman has written and I suggest you give her a try. Her books are wonderful!
Some titles to get you started:
A Circle of Friends (they made a movie of this book starring Chris O'Donnell and Minnie Driver; it stayed very close to the plot, if you don't want to read the book then see the movie and it might change your mind.)
Light a Penny Candle The Glass Lake The Copper Beech Tara Road The Lilac Bus (a book of short stories about a group of people riding a bus from Dublin back to their hometown for the weekend; each chapter is about one of the riders and how their lives all intertwine with each other's; it's a terrifid character study)

I've read everything Binchy's ever written - all the novels, all the short stories. The only book I haven't read of hers is the most recent, her book on health issues while growing older. I see no need to be forwarned.
