I came across this quote by Stephen King today. I love it!
"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn’t carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.” — Stephen King

That's one thing I won't ever get. When I want to read a book, I want a BOOK. With PAGES.

I have books everywhere - in my car, in my office drawer, next to the bed, in my handbag.... ;D I used to read voraciously, then in Y2K, I discovered the world wide web. I re-read a good old classic pretty often. I don't care much for most of today's fiction. I read The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It's hard to read though. It's his style. Characters are constantly coming out of the woodwork, and he doesn't 'develop' them very well. This was my second or third reading in as many years, and I finally got it!! Peace, OHD

The main problem with the World Wide Web is that so much of the information found by using it can't be verified as being true and honest information. As a researcher I run across this kind of thing all the time.
For example, I tell anyone who wants their genealogical research done to back it up with as much paper as possible, because stuff found on the internet is more than likely either false or not 100% verifiable. The more paper backup you have (birth & death certs, phone directories, census records, newspaper clippings, etc.) the better chance of truth.

Which has what to do with books? It's a quote as related to the thread title. The thread is in the Book Club. This is not a collection of random quotes.
