I recently read 2 very interesting books on Christianity and what it means.
First, you may have seen this video:
He wrote a book expanding on his ideas: Jesus > Religion. Its an intriguing read. It shows in many ways its written by a 23 year old but nonetheless it presents a lot of good material to think about.
Second is a book following the same themes with a deeper understanding of the Bible thrown in to the mix: Jesus Hates Religion: Finding Grace in a Works-Driven Culture by Alex Himaya

I've read it and it while not agreeing with some of his points of view, it is at the very least an interesting perspective and worthwhile reading. The massive 'religious entertainment industry shows,' on cable TV are working as a great detriment to practicing or even realizing true, orthodox Christianity. Many millions rely upon TV ministries for their Christian Doctrinal enlightenment, and that just ain't gonna work, for so many, all-too-obvious reasons.
As Christian books go, my all-time favorite is the one by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, Life of Christ.
Peace,
