The long-awaited sequel, titled Doctor Sleep, follows the story of Danny Torrance, the young boy who survived the horrific events in the Overlook Hotel. The 64 year-old multi-award winning author announced on his official website today that it will be published on September 24 next year, 36 years after the original was published. hereCool! The Shining is one of my favorite King novels.

That is cool. He is one of my favorite authors, and The Shining was an awesome novel. Personally, I don't think he will ever write a better single novel than The Stand, but will look forward to this book!

It sure would be a hard choice, but if I had to pick just one,..I guess it would be The Langoliers.

Stephen King is a weird dude,I think there's something wrong mentally with the guy He is kinda odd but he's also a gifted writer. I think in many cases, those go together. Especially with horror writers. You gotta have a twisted mind to come up with twisted stories, don't you?

If you were his kids, would you want him telling you bedtime stories? Actually, his son, author Joe Hill, writes just as well. I have read some of his works, and they are quite good.

Heck I didn't know he had a son let alone that the son is an author. I'll have to check him out. No bedtimes stories from King!

I was surprised, too. I found some of his short stories for $0.99 on Amazon for my tablet - very King-esque.
His main novel, "Heart Shaped Box" is supposed to be very good - still a little expensive for me, though. May have to check it out from the library.

I haven't read Stephen King since The Green Mile. I'm curious.
Peace,

Duma Key is a fairly recent one. For me it had a nice high creepy factor.

Duma Key was pretty good. I watched the movie adaptation of Bag of Bones on Netflix the other night. I loved that book - I thought the story to be tragically beautiful. The movie was kind of creepy and enjoyable.
One of my favorites is Lisey's Story. I truly enjoyed the mixture of love story and horror story.

Don't remember why though. lol I don't think I've heard of Lisey's Story. Full Dark, No Stars is very dark but has some very good short stories in it. I also liked Under the Dome but its not one of his best.

I love the short story collections, although I will admit that I do not remember which ones are in which collections. Under the Dome was good to a point, but got tedious after a while. Took me a long time to finish that one, which is unusual.
