The trees in the area should be accustomed to the 100 degree weather, the dry spells and the wet spells- otherwise they would not grow here. The trees in this ares ARE accustomed to this weather. They do exactly what they're doing now. YOU'RE the one not accustomed to it. You knew Oklahoma's weather before you moved there. Instead of constantly bitching about the weather there why not go back to Texas, or wherever your perfect weather is? That's simple enough.

Because if he couldn't bitch, he would have nothing to say.

Everyone does NOT have AC. There are people dying all the time because of the 100+ degree weather and no AC. Get a clue, SK, the hot temps are dangerous. I don't make the weather, I just enjoy the weather when it's 100 degrees, I have A/C but I rarely use it, I don't like cold air blowing on me when I sleep I perfer an open window & a fan. Remember the cold weather kills many more people than warm weather. What did people do 100 years ago in Summer when there was no A/C and it was hot, they survived~ They got along fine. When I lived in Texas I did not like the A/C My wife & I had arguements over that, before I was married I rarely used A/C in Texas. If people have problems with 100 degree weather they should move to a climate more to their liking. You take what the climate has to offer.

I wish I could live in Texas, I have two daughters there, but I had to go where I had work, and Texas has very high prop. taxes. I had a chance to move to Omaha but I picked Tulsa because the weather is warmer and they have more 100 degree days and longer warm seasons. Oklahoma is a low cost of living state. I'd love it in Las Vegas too, but there is no work there and housing is un-affordable. You take what ya an get.

We never had AC when I was growing up & most of the time not even fans at night. We had open windows & the nights were COOL. They're not now! It stays hot ALL night through the summer months. Take your own advice. ;D

Trees around here in Southern Fairfield County, CT are beginning to change color already. Very very few and far between, but it's starting.
In this area, the underbrush typically goes first, around the same time that the red maples begin to darken. And I've seen a few sugar maples with bits of yellow and orange on them. But it will take at least another 6-8 weeks before this area is at peak foliage - usually by Columbus weekend.

Today it's cold in Tulsa, and looks like rain, only in the 80's and it really feels cold after your body gets adjusted to the 100 degree weather. I don't like it all, it was a short fast summer but summers useually fly by anyhow. We'll still have some nice weather in September and October but the 100 degree weather may be over for the year.

BTW the 1930's was a real warm decade with the dust bowl & all, and the year 1936 was one for the record books, it was 100 degrees and above all summer long in 1936. A/C was a new thing and very few people had it back in 1936. BTW what happened to all the hurricanes this year? I thought Al Gore said we'd have tons of severe hurricanes from global warming? Don't forget the record busting cold winter we had too. Low temp records were set in just about every state during January 2010 and every state got snow during the winter of 2010, and every state had snow on the ground at the same time during 2010, yes even Hawaii had snow~ I go by facts- not the stuff that the global warming agenda sprews.

Huh? Where did ya year that? (Al Gore's speechs?) I didn't 'HEAR' that anywhere. I LIVED it! I don't listen to Al Gore, as apparently YOU do. You're so FOS, SK. The normal temps were NOT as hot as it is today. Arkansas' normal temps were in the high 80's to low 90's. Now the normal temps are 100 & above. Sure,..it may have hit some high temps off & on, but when it did it was called a HEAT WAVE. Yeah,..& of course you didn't read the article I posted on what was going on the year of the dust bowl, did you? Volcanoes...which puts out the same as we have floating around in our atmosphere today. You really need to stop obsessing over Al Gore. Setting records highs AND lows. Remember, ERRATIC weather? Which is VERY erratic! It also snowed in Miami Florida....waaaaay south! ERRATIC WEATHER, wouldn't you say?

It's cooler today, NOT cold. We had a shower here which we badly needed. I certainly hope the 100 degree temps are over. It's almost September when it's supposed to get cooler.

It is wonderfully cool here today. High is supposed to be 68! I have all the windows open! Was raining earlier this morning. Nice and sunny now, though. Beautiful day! It will be back in the 80's by Thursday though. I am enjoying it while I can!

It was 66 when I left for work, and doesn't feel at all as if it got any warmer than that by 4:45pm. Weather forecast this morning was for only 72, and boy do I love it. This is MY kind of temperatures.
