Just went out, ran some errands, it was about 82 degrees and cloudy. Very pleasant weather and very welcome after the 100 degree temps for days with no rain at all. Of course, SK probably has his heat on, coat on, and is rapped up in a blanket.

It was 66 when I left for work, and doesn't feel at all as if it got any warmer than that by 4:45pm. Weather forecast this morning was for only 72, and boy do I love it. This is MY kind of temperatures. # # You bet!! It was 73 yesterday when I took Ashton to catch the bus. I told her I wished it would stay that way year round. She sounded like SK though. She didn't think so,...thought it would be too cool for getting in the pool.

I like it hot above 90 degrees and living in shorts and tee shirts all day, sipping on a ice cold soft drink, jumping in a pool and not getting cold when ya get out. It got down to near 60 degrees over nite here and it felt really cold, that is a 40 degrees difference in temp from the 100 degree weather we had a day earlyer. I'm a outdoor person and I like it warm & sunny, I can't take cold weather.

For swimming it should be above 90 degrees, below that it's really too cold to go into the water, BTW, Years ago in By-gone eras (1940's & 1950's) they said swimming when it was cold (or swimming out of season as it was called) caused Polio, or they called it "Polio season" I can't think of the exact terms but my mother mentioned that. My Aunt lost a 6 year old daughter to Rubarb Polio in 1952 the worst kind, her first symptom was a stiff neck. She died in August, 1952. Two years later Silk came out with the Polio vaccine and that disease was wiped out.

Dr Benjamin Sandler in his research back in 1948 said diet was a major factor in preventing polio. His theory was a major cause of polio was low blood sugar. People ate different in the swimming, summer months. They consumed more cooling foods & drinks, like lemonade & tea, most of them heavily sweetened.

I dunno Belle, That could be how it was- All I remember is my mother mentioned there was a "Polio Season" (before it was cured). The talk at the time was that swimming before or after a so-called "Swimming Season" put you at risk for Polio- you needed to swim only when the summer was it's warmest. I should google it and see what comes up.. Anyhow I hope the weather warms up for the weekend. I plan to do some running and diddle around the house, I'd like to buy a new carpet for my small bedroom, Home Depot has a remenant on sale but it's 12" too short however I may still find a way to use it in there. It's a real nice thick carpet.

I googled "Polio Season" and some articles form "TIME" mag came up from 1941, it said that Polio was a yearly event and seemed to attack children only, they banned places where alot of kids gather and sometimes closed schools to curb Polio, Another article said the doctors think Polio was caused by doing alot of excerise, (swimming is a good work out) August was the peak season for Polio. It was a very grim disease. Funny how simple they cured that disease. It attacked the nerverous system.

Heading to the Farmer's Market early tomorrow. I love the Farmer's Market! Going to get some nice, fresh apricots to grill up, some fresh, local goat cheese (yum), plums & nectarines and whatever other wonderful goodies they have there! Then, I will be going to my first weight-in for Weight Watchers to see the results of my first week's efforts. Hoping it goes well - I have been diligent! After that, who knows? I love the unplanned, spontaneous weekends!

All the best SC, it also sounds like a adventure. I spent alot of time working on my house, Plus I have trouble with the electric bill, seems they read the meter wrong and rang me up for 100 kilowatts of power useage when I only used 40 kilowatts of power. They are going to send me a corrected bill. I get low electric bills in the summer but high electric bills in the winter when I have to use the heater all the time..
