What was the last book you read? Did you like it?
Mine was "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill, son of Stephen King. It was a well written and kind of creepy little ghost story. Worth the read.

I'm reading all 5 books in that are the basis for Game of Thrones. I'm on book 3 right now. Obviously I like them since this is the second time around. Its a wonderfully complex story. I can't wait for book 6 to come out.

I just finished "In the Shadow of the Banyan" by Vaddey Ratner. It was excellent.

I read a similar book called Under and Alone: The True Story of the Undercover Agent Who Infiltrated America's Most Violent Outlaw Motorcycle Gang by William Queen. He is a retired DEA agent who became a patched member and officer of the Mongols Motorcycle Gang. Very gritty and a good read.

I recently read a book about the exploits of Walter Cronkite and Andy Rooney (and other war correspondents) during WWII. I had no idea that Cronkite and Rooney actually flew bombing missions over Germany. They had to be specially trained to do so, and the training compressed several months' worth of preparation into about 1 week and was really grueling. I wish I could remember the author's name, but if you have a chance to read it do so - it was really interesting. I thought it would be dull, but far from it.

The Idiot, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I 'tried to read it when I was in my 30s. I couldn't really understand it. NOT an easy read. I was bound and determined this time, but I still had a lot of trouble with comprehension. I think most of it is because of inaccurate translation from the Russian language.
It's great, but I really had to concentrate! I had a tough time with the multiple characters, trying to keep it sorted, who was who!
Peace,
OHD
